  • k = months each instalment stays deposited, summed over every instalment

Frequently asked questions

How is RD interest calculated?+

Each monthly instalment earns interest, compounded quarterly, for the number of months it stays in the account. The calculator adds up the value of every instalment at maturity.

What happens if I miss an RD instalment?+

Banks usually charge a small penalty for a missed instalment, and repeated misses can lead to the RD being closed early.

RD or SIP — which is better?+

An RD gives fixed, predictable interest. A SIP in mutual funds can earn more over long periods but its returns are market-linked and not guaranteed.
